Signs Your FAAC Welding & Fabrication Is Failing

• The gate arm has visible play at the post bracket. You can grab the operator arm and move it laterally by hand. The weld between the vertical post plate and the horizontal arm cradle has cracked through, usually at the toe of the weld where stress concentrates. The operator still runs, but every cycle hammers the crack wider.
• Rust bleeding from a previously clean weld joint. Fresh orange streaks below a bracket weld mean moisture has penetrated the joint. In Alpharetta’s humid summers, that rust accelerates quickly once it starts. The weld hasn’t failed yet, but the cross-section is reducing.
• The gate post itself has shifted or tilted. The bracket is intact, but the post it mounts to has rotated in its footing. DIY or Call Us?

There’s a short list an owner can safely check. Verify the bracket bolts are tight with a socket wrench. Look for the crack location and photograph it. Check whether the post is plumb with a 4-foot level. That’s it.

What goes wrong past that point: welding a loaded bracket without relieving the gate weight first puts torsion into every new weld bead. The wrong electrode (or the right electrode at the wrong amperage) makes brittle welds that crack in the first cold snap. Galvanized steel releases toxic zinc fumes when welded without proper ventilation and respirator protection. And most importantly, a gate that falls during DIY repair can crush a person or vehicle.
